US News question by : Why is there no mention of Ossetia in Canadian or US news?
They make out Russia to look like the aggressor, when Russia is helping Ossetia FROM the Georgians?
Goto, if you read up on what is going on now from other news sources, you will find a very different picture painted.

I am just asking the above question to clarify as to why.

Because many don’t believe the Russians. As my Grandfather use to say never trust a Russian.

To my knowledge, this is what happened:

Some Georgian citizens of South Ossetia want to break away from Georgia and join Russia. These people are neither ethnically Georgian or Russian. Russia started (illegally) issuing Russian passports and granting diplomatic recognition to the South Ossetian separatists. The separatists made trouble, the Georgian government moved to control the situation, and the Russians invaded Georgia to protect “their” citizens.

Even if this isn’t exactly right, Russia is still being way more aggressive than they need to be. As hypocritical as this sounds coming from an American, Russia has no right to invade a sovereign country under the circumstances. As far as I know, there was absolutely no genocide like there was in Serbia in the ’90s. And now the Russians, even though they signed a cease-fire agreement and agreed to pull out of Georgia, are not ceasing fire nor are they fully pulling out of Georgia.

  2. SPIRITUAL PARADIGM SHIFT says:

Georgia attacked Russia first, and then Russia retaliated. Bush wants to escalate the violence and cause war to go along with his other plans for calling Martial Law in America and canceling the American elections. Remember that if ANYTHING bad happens to or in America anytime soon, you know exactly who did it and don’t believe any other lies from corporate controlled media.

  3. AstroDude says:

Bush and the media are nothing but dirty rats!

  4. OMNI says:

Between this and ramping things up with Iran, now I’m starting to believe the Mayans were right!

  5. gotoyourroomnow says:

Oh, I see. Democratic, puny GEORGIA is the aggressor, huh? Is that why Russia keeps agreeing to withdraw its troops but can’t quite seem to follow through on it and keeps advancing?
